Intoduction
Lesson 2
modules mainly focus on the Quantity control facilities, On-site
Detention (Chapter 5) and Rainwater Harvesting (Chapter 6)
covered in the MSMA 2nd Edition which basically deal with
control at premise level.
MSMA 2nd Edition provides simplified guidelines for the design
of on-site detention (OSD) facilities. Instead of the tedious
and complicated computations involved in the design of the
system using Swinburne Method as shown in MSMA (2000), the
simplified procedure involves only the use of tables and charts
and simple computations. Depending on the land availability, OSD
may be provided as above-ground storages, below-ground storages,
or a combination of both within a property boundary.
Rainwater harvesting is a technique of collecting rainfall as a
supplementary source of water supply for households, commercial
and industrial premises, landscape watering, livestock water,
and irrigation of agriculture. The planning and development of
rainwater harvesting systems shall be carried out adhering to
the principles and guidelines described in the workshop. The
current practice by Public Works Department also will be
introduced in this workshop and hands on session.
