LIST OF REFERENCES
Chapter 1 contains a brief introduction to the study area. This is followed by Chapter 2 that describes the background of the study area, Perai industrial Complex. The location of monitoring stations are discussed herein.
Previous studies carried out in the study area are described in Chapter 3. The studies reviewed the qualitative and quantitative aspects of industrial wastewater. Then, Chapter 4 contains the design criteria based on Urban Stormwater Management Manual for Malaysia (MSMA).
Chapter 5 describes the existing drain conditions in the Study Area. Layouts of existing drains are also included in this chapter, which are determined through drainage inventory and survey plan. The Study area, together with all drainage and hydraulic structures which formed by a series of interconnecting drains in a grid formation are simulated by using XP-SWMM. The conduit peak flows have been summarized for 10-year and 100-year ARI design storm under 30, 60 and 120 minute storm events.
Chapter 6 discusses preliminary wastewater quality results in the Study Area for the period of November 2003 until January 2004. 18 stations were established throughout the study area. Twenty three (23) parameters including those physical, chemical and biological categories were monitored and the results were presented against the Standard B, EQA.
Chapter 7 presents the proposed engineering designs. For flood mitigation proposes, two alternatives are given in upgrading the existing drainage system. Two alternatives are also given for improving the water quality in the drainage system.
Chapter 8 delineates the project scheduling and costing for the all proposed flood mitigation alternatives. This is followed by a list of references where the data is sourced and information is referred during the Study.
This is followed by a series of appendices. Appendix A contains the industrial wastewater questionnaire and Appendix B consists of a list of respondents. Appendix C presents the drainage inventory. This is followed by Appendix D, which contains the detailed data on water quality collected at 18 monitoring stations. Cost estimation calculation sheets for four (4) proposed flood mitigation alternatives are given in Appendix E.
