TROPICAL PROJECT @ REDAC

Tropical Project @ REDAC is an initiative by REDAC staff that involves planting various fruit trees around the REDAC Office and the Integrated Research Space at the REDAC Hydraulic Laboratory, Universiti Sains Malaysia (Engineering Campus). Initiated in December 2020, this project marks the beginning of REDAC’s continuous effort to promote environmental awareness and sustainability through tree-planting activities. The programme aims to raise awareness of the importance of trees while fostering a deeper appreciation and love for nature among staff members.

Through this project, the planted trees are expected to bear fruits that can be enjoyed by REDAC staff in the future. In addition, the initiative also seeks to enhance the ecosystem and biodiversity within the USM Engineering Campus.

Among the trees planted are guava, rambutan, mango, starfruit, pandan coconut, and others. The project also adopts a ‘Tree Adoption’ concept, where each REDAC staff member is assigned to care for a specific tree, fostering a sense of responsibility and connection to the environment.
